Sunrise at the Grand Canyon

After the amazing evening of watching the sunset at the Grand Canyon and BBQ-ing we all got up at 5-something to head back up to the Canyon to watch the sunrise. It was a very cold, but special experience. One that I'm so glad I got! To see the whole Canyon go from blue to bright red and orange was amazingly precious. It's almost a religious experience because you get to stand next to one of the worlds wonders experiencing one of the worlds other wonders which is sunrise. Something that happens every single day, yet it can feel like a miracle.

There were a big group standing at a certain spot at the Canyon also watching the sunrise and as soon as the sun came over the horizon they all went "ooooh" and "aaaaah". Haha, they cracked me up even though I was ooh-ing and aah-ing in my own head as well.

Sunset at the Grand Canyon

Monica, Klaus, Ken and I left the Grand Canyon during the day and came back in the evening to a different spot to watch the sunset. It was an incredible experience. The whole Canyon was changing colours with the light changing. It's so red when the sun hits it and so very blue when the sun goes down. It was unforgettable!

We were staying by some watch tower of some sort. Ken and I went inside and all the way to the top. It was amazing. In the first floor there was a nice tourist shop as well. The cashier was lovely and welcomed me to the Grand Canyon.

After returning from the shop I was standing next to Ken on the edge ready to watch the sunset. I heard a lot of yelling behind me, but I didn't think much of it until someone tapped me on my shoulder and I turned around to see five angry french guys yelling at me in french and waving their arms because I was blocking their view! Haha! It was such a weird and funny moment. They were actually so rowdy and loud the entire time, it was annoying!

I'm so glad and thankful that I got to experience sunset at the Grand Canyon. It's a memory that will stick with me for life.

First Views of the Amazing Grand Canyon

I was absolutely over the moon about seeing the Grand Canyon. I didn't really think of it as a possibility in the near future so it was an amazing surprise to be able to go see it. I hope you are ready for lots of Canyon pictures! At first glance it looked more like a 3D painting right in front of you. It was so bizarre. It was like my mind couldn't quite comprehend the depth, colours and the size of the Canyon. It was really interesting. Ken, Monica, Klaus and I hiked along the Grand Canyon for a good while. There are also different buses and stuff you can take to different view points. They were all amazing and it was like the colours changed in the Canyon from the different lights hitting it. It was amazing! I couldn't quite believe that I was actually there and even though I could see it at all times it was like I had to look again and again!

We wanted to walk for enough for us to see the Colorado river that runs through the canyon. You can't always see it. You have to go certain places to get to the angle right so that you can see the river.

At the visitor center there we watched really interesting videos about the animal life in the Canyon and how they think it all came together, the Indian tribes that used to be there, the first person who successfully went with a boat all the way through the Grand Canyon in the Colorado River and so on.
